About This Role
Platform Engineering is the fastest-growing discipline in GCC and IT services hiring in 2026, and this role sits at its core. You will build the factory floor: the internal tooling, pipelines, and infrastructure that make hundreds of engineers more productive without thinking about deployment, monitoring, or compliance. This is a hands-on engineering role with genuine ownership and wide-ranging impact.
What You Will Do
- Design, build, and operate scalable Kubernetes-based container platforms across multi-cloud environments (AWS EKS, Azure AKS, GCP GKE)
- Implement and maintain GitOps workflows using ArgoCD or Flux, declarative, version-controlled, auditable deployments as the default
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins) supporting multi-team, multi-service software delivery at scale
- Own the observability stack, distributed tracing (OpenTelemetry), centralised logging (ELK/Grafana Loki), and metrics dashboards (Prometheus, Grafana)
- Implement Platform Engineering principles, Internal Developer Platforms (IDP), self-service infrastructure, golden paths for developer teams
- Drive Infrastructure as Code adoption across the organisation using Terraform and Helm
- Collaborate with security teams to embed DevSecOps practices, SAST, container scanning, secrets management (Vault, AWS Secrets Manager)
- Define and track platform SLOs and error budgets, own reliability as an engineering metric, not a support function
- Mentor engineering teams on platform capabilities and DevOps best practices
What You Need to Succeed
- 5+ years of DevOps/Platform Engineering experience in production environments
- Deep Kubernetes expertise, cluster design, multi-tenancy, autoscaling, networking (Ingress, Service Mesh), RBAC
- GitOps proficiency, ArgoCD or Flux in production at scale
- Strong CI/CD pipeline engineering skills across at least one major platform (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins)
- Infrastructure as Code with Terraform, modules, remote state, workspace management
- Observability stack ownership, Prometheus, Grafana, distributed tracing, alerting design
- Cloud platform expertise: AWS, Azure, or GCP (multi-cloud experience strongly preferred)
- Container security and DevSecOps practices, image scanning, SBOM, secrets management
- Strong scripting capability, Bash, Python, or Go for tooling and automation
What Will Give You an Edge
- Experience building Internal Developer Platforms (Backstage, Port, or custom)
- Service Mesh experience (Istio, Linkerd, Cilium)
- FinOps and cloud cost optimisation experience
- Platform Engineering community engagement, open source contributions, blog posts, conference talks
- CKA, CKS, or CKAD certifications
What Qfyre Offers
- Platform engineering mandate with genuine ownership, you build the platform others depend on
- Exposure to enterprise-scale Kubernetes environments across multiple cloud providers
- Remote-first flexibility with structured hybrid collaboration
- Competitive compensation with strong upside for demonstrated production impact
- Access to modern toolchain with no legacy constraints
